Winners Of The 2008 Launch Your Band Competition Announced (30-Apr-08)

PERISHER BLUE, NSW, APRIL 30, 2008 - Sydney-based band 'Burn the Drama' has taken out this year's Perisher Blue Launch Your Band competition

Sydney-based band ‘Burn the Drama’ has taken out this year’s Perisher Blue Launch Your Band competition with its indie-rock inspired song ‘Live in the Moment’.

The competition, now in its second year, is designed to uncover unsigned bands, electronic groups, DJs, solo acts and anyone else looking to get their music out there. This year’s competition attracted over 400 entries including many outstanding songs making the decision very difficult.

‘Live in the Moment’ will now become the soundtrack to Perisher Blue’s freeride television commercial, on air from 18 May 2008. The four-piece band’s distinct sound is described as “indie, yet in-your-face and at time emotive but always driven with energy” that they say is “born out of their turbulent past”.

The band will also perform live at the Perisher Blue Spring Carnival in September 2008 and receive a Perisher Blue snow holiday for up to 6 people valued at $1000 per person, a Nikon COOLPIX S550 Digital Camera (RRP $399), Lonsdale London clothing pack valued at $2000 and Burton snow gear valued at $2800.

According to Martin Adnum, Director of Out of the Square Media and organiser of the competition, “This is a very satisfying competition to be involved in, in that it genuinely gives an unsigned artist or group the opportunity to gain national exposure. Both Perisher Blue and ourselves are 100% behind Australian artists and this is our way of supporting them. Perisher Blue gains access to a great soundtrack for their freeride commercials and the artists gain fantastic exposure. It’s a win-win situation.”

Congratulations to the other top five winners who will feature on Perisher Blue’s First Tracks Volume 2 CD and the Perisher Blue Fusion Parks and Pipe website online jukebox alongside the rest of the top 20 winners:

Acid Eyeliner: Red Light Racecar Driver
Limelight: The Ride
Front Counter: Take me Away
Paul Greene: Work Love Dance Trust

The top five and top twenty winners can be found (and heard) on the official Launch Your Band website at
