Tyrol may theoretically have the edge when it comes to the best terrain in Austria, but as both Tyrol and Vorarlberg share the Arlberg, there's very little to choose between them. On the Vorarlberg side, the principal resorts include Lech, Zürs and Stuben. Of the three, you'll get most for your money at Stuben, especially if you like your skiing unpretentious.
On the other side of the region are the resorts of Montafon - Schruns, Gaschurn and Gargellen. Being closer to Switzerland, it makes more sense to fly into Zurich and hop across the border by road if you want to ski or ride here. These three are a little less hectic than the big names in the Arlberg, but with around 200 kms of piste to play with, the terrain here is arguably as good.
