Oberösterreich, or Upper Austria, borders the Austrian province of Styria (as well as Germany and the Czech Republic) and shares much of the look and feel, as well as some of the higher ground, of that region.
The focus of attention, as in Styria, is the Dachstein massif. Aside from its snow sure glacier, the Dachstein has fantastic terrain, especially for intermediates and experts, and a lift pass at a resort like Obertraun / Dachstein gives you access to some 40-odd pistes in total, as well as a state of the art snow park. Other resorts in Oberösterreich tend to be suited to intermediate skiers and riders, though they're a little limited in downhill terrain. Cross country trails however, are here in abundance.
