Stacking Up The Snow Stats For Your Next Skiing Holiday (07-Aug-08)

Fresh Peaks, VIC, August 7, 2008 - For the first time, snow fans can compare ski resorts side-by-side according to common criteria like vertical, price of lift passes, terrain difficulty and season start and end dates.

Melbourne-based creative team Fresh Peaks has launched the beta version of its new snow portal freshpeaks.com – a media-rich, ad-free online resource that addresses the distinctive lack of comparable worldwide snow information available on the web.

How often do you find yourself considering the same old ‘usual suspects’ when it comes to choosing a ski resort for next year’s skiing holiday? If you’re itching to go somewhere different but not sure how it stacks up, try freshpeaks.com’s ski resort comparison tool.

From an easy-to-use drop down menu you can select up to six worldwide ski resorts at a time (from a database of over 2,500) and compare them, side-by-side, against 50 different criteria including vertical drop, the price of lift passes, average snow depth and longest run. You can also look at village facilities such as the number of restaurants or childcare centres.

Barny ‘Carving’ Carter, business development manager at Fresh Peaks, says, “There are plenty of skiing and snowboarding sites on the web, but nothing that pulls the whole story together. We felt snow fans needed a single place online where they could not only compare ski resorts on a worldwide basis, but get an exciting, informative and visually enticing overview of the action along the way.”

Using the slogan ‘It’s all about the snow’, freshpeaks.com has been designed fresh from the ground up as an ad-free, media-rich information resource that engages snow fans and gives them a truly global perspective as they plan their next adventure in the white stuff.

Keeping the portal ad-free was central to the philosophy that freshpeaks.com should be about making the process of planning a skiing holiday as convenient and pleasurable an experience as possible.

“We want to give snow fans the facts and keep them entertained through the clever use of words, imagery and film – not blast them with banner ads that promote one ski resort over another,” says Carter.

“At the heart of it, we’re just slightly obsessive snow fans who’ve spent a lot of time online struggling to find the right balance of fact and fun. Freshpeaks.com is the answer to that frustration.”
