Nozawa Things To Do
Things To Do
While Nozawa might not obtain the hustle and flair of other resort villages, it is its traditional Japanese character that makes this village a wonderful place to experience.
Of course there is the fantastic Nozawa Onsen ski resort. One of Japan's premiere resorts, it boasts two gondolas and thwenty-three chair lifts providing access to over 50 kilometers of trails as well as a terrain park.
Away from the mountain is where the traditional activities take place.
While visiting you must try at least one of the local Onsens. These natural hot spring baths are the complete relaxation tool after a long day on the slopes.
The Nozawa Onsen Arena is a privately run Onsen which includes a sauna and solarium.
Away from the Onsens, a simple stroll through the village itself will provide you with the true charm of a traditional Japanese village. The village's old cobble stoned streets thrive in Japanese tradition with markets, traditional Japanese inns, numerous accommodation possibilities, authentic restaurants and more.
If you are lucky enough to be in Nozawa during the month of January, make sure you are around to experience the Dosoujiin Fire Festival.
