Dinner Plain Location

From the Northern side of Melbourne head up the Hume Freeway (M31) to the Great Alpine Road (B500) exit near Wangaratta. Follow the Great Alpine Road through the picturesque Ovens Valley to Harrietville, before the spectacular drive up to Mount Hotham Resort. Dinner Plain is is a further 11km along the Great Alpine Road towards Omeo.

Drive time: 4.5 hours from Melbourne.

From the South-Eastern side of Melbourne, or in case of road closure between Harrietville and Hotham, take the Princes Freeway (A1) through Gippsland to Bairnsdale.
The Great Alpine Road (B500) heads north from Bruthen through the spectacular high country to Omeo.  Dinner Plain is a further 43 km from Omeo, heading towards the Alpine National Park.

Drive time: 5 hours

Fill your car’s tank before driving up the mountain and don’t forget the antifreeze and alpine diesel during the winter months.

Harrietville and Omeo are your last stops for fuel – there is no fuel at Dinner Plain or Mount Hotham.

The Hotham Airport at Horsehair Plain is the highest commercial airport in Australia.  Why drive when you can fly directly into Hotham airport, landing just 10 kms from Dinner Plain and 20kms from the slopes!

Hotham's airport is serviced by QantasLink from Sydney during the ski season with a number of charter operators also flying in year round. www.qantas.com.au

Friday and Sunday coach services running direct to Hotham Alpine Resort from Albury Airport.  Guests travelling through to Dinner Plain are welcome to change services to the Hotham - Dinner Plain Shuttle Service.

SUMMER:

Visitors to Victoria’s north east can take advantage of the Alps Bus Link operating between Omeo and Bright  on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer and winter months.  The service stops at Dinner Plain in the morning and the afternoon and links up with V-Line services operating from Wangaratta and Bairnsdale.  Phone: 1300 722 191
