Shiga Prefecture gets a decent amount of snow over the winter months and an average of over two metres in peak season.

The infrastructure is in place to a point, but with most of the signage in Japanese, Shiga is perhaps better suited to those that know their??? from their?????.

That said, people are friendly round here and will happily help you buy your lift ticket, or whatever it is you need.

You may find it a little pricey at times, especially in resorts where there's not a lot of terrain. Weekends can also get a bit crowded.
