The Village

You’ve ridden the pow till your legs are screaming and ignored it for one more run, but the gnawing in your belly is another story and luckily lunching on the slopes is a delight.

The sprawling skiable terrain is dotted with little restaurants, each one serving up noodle soups, fried fish and rice dishes. One of the striking things though is the cost, there is no price inflation for location and you can fuel up for only a very reasonable spend.  And if the skiing is not hot enough on its own, the cold is quickly banished by the hot tea that waits on every table.

Another option is to head down from the mountain and into the village where your dining options are multiplied tenfold.  The close proximity of the lifts to town of Nozawa means that it’s not going to take too much time out of your day if you decide to return to that favourite spot for one more steamed dumpling.

If you find yourself in Japan without having lugged all your gear with you or – even better – the powder is so thick that you want to treat yourself to some really fat skies, then there are a number of rental options offered by the resort.
