Östergötland is in the south eastern corner of Sweden bordering the Baltic Sea and several other skiing counties including Jönköping, Västra Götaland and Örebro. You wouldn't call the downhill skiing here exhaustive, but it is possible to get knee deep in the white stuff and put in a few runs before retiring to the pub.

 

Basically you're looking at the one resort - Tolvmannabackens, which has around 30 kms of piste. You're likely to be happiest here as a beginner, perfecting snow ploughs without fear of being mown down. That said, there are a couple more challenging runs if you're looking to stretch your legs. Cross-country is less extensive here than in other counties, but there are two floodlit trails - one 2.8 kms long, the other 5 kms.
