Â
Örebro County is in south central Sweden, about two hours from Stockholm by train. The area is laced with laced with lakes and hills and makes a pretty spectacular outdoor playground, winter or summer.
Â
The county borders several of the more popular skiing counties such as Värmland and Dalarna and benefits from some of their 'height'. In Örebro, the best of the winter action takes places in the "Blue Mountains" - the hilly region otherwise known as Kilsbergen. Cross-country is still the preferred means of getting your kicks on the slippery stuff round here (if you discount the potential suicidal trend for skating frozen lakes) and there's around 80 kms up for grabs. For downhill action, most people head to Storstenshojden.
