Expansion plans by Breckenridge in Colorado, one of the most popular ski resorts in US and the top US destination for British skiers, have been given the initial go ahead by the US Forest service which controls the land where new lifts and runs would be installed.

Killington in Vermont has announced a $6.5 million spend ahead of winter 2011-12 season. Much of the money is going on a new restaurant, following the removal this spring of the Peak Lodge from the 4,100 foot level of Killington Peak, although this won’t be completed until the start of winter 2012-13.
