Korea, Feb. 24, 2009 - Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen clocked up his 87th
Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen clocked up his 87th World Cup Win and gold medal in the Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Tuesday.
The incredible tally from the 35 year old beats the total accumulated in the 1970s and 1980s by Swedish slalom skier Ingemar Stenmark, who won 86 World Cup gold medals.
Bjorndalen won the first three World Championship gold medals in a row in the Sprint, Pursuit and Individual events.

In the last competition of the 2009 FIS Snowboard World Championships Gangwon, Korea presented by LG, one Finnish rider proofed once again that Big Air is its home country’s domain. In a high class final, Markku Koski grabbed Gold with 55.6 points being the third Finn to win a WCS title in this discipline after Risto Mattila (2003) and Antti Autti (2005) had done so before.

In the first parallel race of the 2009 FIS Snowboard World Championships Gangwon, Korea, presented by LG it was Austria and Canada celebrating World Championships honours. In the Parallel Giant Slalom, it was Marion Kreiner (AUT) who successfully competed against her fellow country woman Doris Guenther taking home her first ever World Championships Gold – the second one for Austria at this 2009 major event – after winning Silver two years ago.
Korea, World Snowboarding Championships, Jan. 11, 2009 - The Winter Olympics may be another two years away
The Winter Olympics may be another two years away but for snowboard enthusiasts Korea will be the place to be from 14-24 January for the fun and excitement of the 2009 FIS Snowboard World Championships.
It will be the first time for the championships to be held in an Asian country and for Korea it will be one of the largest winter sporting events ever held in the country attracting over 1,200 participants from fifty countries.

Two new ski resorts have opened in Korea in the past week. Konjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, is one of the closest resorts to Seoul, only 40 minutes away to the north.
