France, June 14, 2010 - Les 2 Alpes will be the first

Les 2 Alpes will be the first of France’s three ski areas that still offer summer glacier skiing and boarding to open, this Wednesday, June 16th.

The lists open from 7.15am daily until the 28th August, the resorts there is 2.4m (eight feet) of snow lying on the glacier.

Les Arcs will add its latest six seater chairlift this winter with the installation of the new Arpette chair. The aim of the new lift is to carry skiers more comfortably and quickly to the top of Arc 1600/1800 ski area, and to get to Arc 2000 area much faster.

The new lift replaces the old double chairlift that was also called “Arpette” as well as the “Col des Frêtes” lift.

Grand Massif, France, June 2, 2009 - Two new six-seater chairlifts are currently under construction

Two new six-seater chairlifts are currently under construction in the French Grand Massif region which includes the resorts of Flaine, Morillon, Samoens, Sixt and Les Carroz.

The first lift in Samoens, the new “Chariande Express,” will cut transfer time from bottom to top of the Samoens ski area by a third and more than double capacity on the route.

8 of 52 lifts at Valmorel ski area in France were operational last week after a strike by lift operators hit the resort for a reported 36 hours.

The lift personnel refused to work whilst demanding better pay and improved conditions for working on Sundays.
