The end of the glacier at Argentière in the Chamonix Valley has been given a protective summer coat in a bid to slow down its thawing as a result of climate change.
Working with the Mayor of Chamonix, and the Prefecture of Haute Savoie, the Compagnie du Mont- Blanc lift operator is spending 3,000 Euros on a small 750 square metre tarpaulin to cover a sector at the Grand Montets.

Montgenèvre plans to become the only resort in the Southern Alps and one of only 30 in Europe to offer lift accessed skiing over 3,000m.
An entire 3000m ski area has been created around Mount-Chaberton on the French/Italian border to offer skiing for all levels and a long new blue run from 3000m downwards.
Skiers will be able to enjoy 360° panoramic views from Mont Ventoux to Mont-Blanc, from the

All of the ski areas in France are currently closed, the only major Alpine ski nation to have no skiing available over the next four weeks.
However three glacier ski areas will open in the country next month and in 2011 the opening dates have changed a little so that one opens a little earlier, and one stays open a little later, than in previous years.
First to open, for a five week summer ski season, will be Val d’Isere.

The Feeling’s Little World Festival has unveiled the initial line-up for Meribel Live that runs 12 to 19 March 2011 with over 40 gigs during ‘the world’s most beautiful festival.’
With an open air stage actually on the piste, the festival will feature some of Europe’s biggest acts with Squeeze, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling, The Freemasons, Fictionplane, Carl Barat of Libertines fame, The Langley Sisters and Ed Harcourt performing.
