The British Columbia Safety Authority (BCSA), BC’s independent auditor on passenger ropeway systems, has given approval for Whistler Blackcomb to continue regular operations on its mountain lifts, with the exception of the Excalibur Gondola.
“Preliminary inspection by BC safety officers has determined that this was an isolated incident of water contamination in a tower tube which caused a tower joint flange to fail due to ice jacking,” said Greg Pad

We are skiing and riding on Old Timer, Showoff and Horseshoe on the Mile 1 Quad, Beginner and Highway 1 in the novice area, Eagle Glide and Hoggs Flats on the Toby Chair, Skyline and World Cup Way on the Champagne Express, and Getmedown on the Summit Quad.

Kimberley Alpine Resort will kick off the 2008/09 ski season this Saturday, with a special preview weekend.
With 21cm of new snow in the past 7 days, and snowmaking in full force, the resort is ready to go for the season. Kimberley Alpine Resort will be open on December 13 and 14, then re-open on December 19th for operations seven days a week.
The North Star Express Quad and Owlette Magic Carpet will be open, with limited terrain access.

Whistler Blackcomb officials have announced that Whistler Mountain will open early on Wednesday, November 26. Whistler Mountain will open for daily operations with access to Emerald Express, Big Red Express and Franz’s Chair via the Whistler Village Gondola. On Thursday, the Creekside Gondola will open for the American Thanksgiving weekend, providing access to Whistler Mountain from the Creekside Base through to Sunday, November 30.

The Canadian Open Freeskiing Championship presented by Ledcor is back at Red this January featuring some of North America’s top freeskiers. The Open Finals will be held on legendary Mt. Roberts which boasts some of the best freeskiing terrain in North America and one of the longest, most challenging venues on the Big Mountain Freeskiing Circuit. The event starts with the Junior competition January 9-10, followed by the Open Senior event January 15-17.
