Red Mountain To ‘Revitalise’ Century Old Day Lodge (10-May-10)

Red Mountain, BC, May 10, 2010 - Red Mountain Resort has announced

Red Mountain resort in British Columbia as announced it will be investing more than $5 million in two projects: the revitalization of the resort’s 110 year-old day lodge and the second phase of its accommodation development at the base of the ski slopes.

The final stages of design are underway for the restoration of the existing 17,000 square-foot day lodge.

Les 2 Alpes has announced it will operate its biggest snowpark yet when it re-opens for summer skiing and boarding on June 16th.

The resort’s internationally renowned summer snowpark was originally launched  16 years ago in 1994 and continues to expand thanks to the help of dedicated professionals and huge investment by the resort.

The p[ark, located between 3300 and 3400 metres now covers some 18 hectares and is open from 7.30am to 1pm.

Whistler Blackcomb’s Crud 2 Mud race is back this month to celebrate the “transition season”  mixing the end of the ski and snowboard season with the start of the bike season.

The event will be staged on May 22nd, four years after the last Crud 2 Mud race was staged at the resort.

In teams or individually, Crud 2 Mud competitors ski or snowboard from the top of Whistler Mountain to the bottom of the snow line, where bikes and equipmen


New May Snow On Scotland’s Still Open Ski Slopes (10-May-10)

A fresh spell of cool weather brought new snow to Scotland for the mayday holiday period and continuing cold weather means more snow is expected as we approach mid-May.

Cairngorm Mountain above Aviemore is now the only Scottish ski centre still open for snow sports and it reported 2.5cm (an inch) of new snow.

Mountain High To Remain Open Until May 2nd!! (26-Apr-10)

The season that wouldn’t end.  Fresh snow continues to fall in Southern California and Mountain High now plans to remain open through May 2nd making this the longest season in its history.  A total of 186 days to be exact beating out the winter of 2004/05 by five days.  Mountain High is now one of only a handful of resorts open in the country and resort operators couldn’t be more excited about the extended season.
