A massive 58cm dump of snow over the past two days and more in the forecast has Mt Hutt set up for fantastic skiing and riding and an awesome July school holidays.

The latest fall has resulted in a 1.25m base at the top of the high country ski area and 1.05m at the base, well over the magic 1m level that makes for great coverage.

Coronet Peak and The Remarkables have expanded their school holiday programmes to include five-year olds (the age restriction was previously six) and The Remarkables will also offer three and five-day programme options.

Snowsports School Director, Michel Marchand, says they’re aiming to provide on-mountain fun which caters for the whole family.

Skiers and riders in Queenstown were delighted to wake up to the local ski areas  Coronet Peak and The Remarkables blanketed in new snow this morning - the result of a Southerly blast whipping its way up the South Island.

Hardy types were quickly fitting chains to get to the slopes as the weather cleared and sun peeked through revealing 15 centimetres of fresh powder at each mountain.
