The Warren Smith Ski Academy’s summer ski courses are back in Saas-Fee for 2011, starting on the 9th July. The course ski coaching format is the same as the winter, with a few minor differences outside of the course.

New for this summer is a specific mogul ski area, new to the glacier. The area will be between the mains pistes and the snowpark and will have four different mogul lanes.

Comparing 11 major resorts in Australia and New Zealand, including packages and prices for peak season dates in July and August, each resort was given a score based on key attributes consumers look for when planning a trip to the snow.

A new Michelin culinary star has been awarded to the famous French resort of Val d’Isère. This time it is local Antony Tempesta who has been recognised by the Michelin restaurant guide for his gastronomic excellence at his family restaurant, La Becca.

Learning from the best, Antony began his career with the legends that are Michel Husser, Régis Marcon, Marc Veyrat and Gilles Goujou.

Nearly 4,300 skiers, snowboarders and spectators came out Monday to Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort near Banff in the Canadian Rockies to witness the 83rd annual Slush Cup under sunny skies last Monday. Nearly 75 competitors participated and the winners were:

The end of the glacier at Argentière in the Chamonix Valley has been given a protective summer coat in a bid to slow down its thawing as a result of climate change.

Half a dozen US resorts that had closed for winter 2010-11.......

Half a dozen US resorts that had closed for winter 2010-11 are re-joining half-a-dozen where the season continues to celebrate the US Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Although most resort had closed, the snow is still lying many metres deep on the ski slopes and in many cases it is still snowing.

A crew led by Head of Snowmaking Pete Deuart is ready to work day and night to have the guns pumping 24 tonnes of the white stuff across the mountain every minute in preparation for its scheduled opening on Saturday 4 June.
