Mont Sutton, Quebec, March 2, 2009 - The biggest 'Freestyle' competition of the Eastern Townships is back
The biggest "Freestyle" competition of the Eastern Townships is back for the eighth edition. This event so much waited by hundreds of young skiers and snowboarders will be held on March 14th and 15th at Mont SUTTON. The event will last throughout the weekend with three competitions: Big Air, Best Trick and Slope Style. Riders, on ski or snowboard, professionals and amateurs, will show their knack for the big pleasure of the audience.

After a hard fought battle, Caley Vanular claimed first place in the women’s category. Second place went to Molly Milligan and third went to Janelle Prtichard.

NIIGATA, Japan (March 2, 2009) – New Zealand’s position at the forefront of freeskiing was again confirmed this weekend following a gold medal in Big Air at the Nippon Freeskiing Open by Wanaka freeskier, Jossi Wells.
The Big Air event which replaced the planned Slopestyle event included a jump to Quarterpipe Big Air. Wells, 18, led through the semi finals to triumph, receiving 97.7 out of a possible 100 points.

Famous for its family fun environment and multiple terrain parks, The Remarkables ski area 40 minutes from Queenstown, will introduce free transfers to and from town with any lift ticket

Omatic pro-rider Josh Sherman is hosting the second stop of the Pee Wee Sherman Rail Jam at Mountain High on March 7, 2009.
After three years of only hosting this grassroots amateur rail jam at his home resort in Wisconsin, Josh and his shop sponsor Active have added a second stop at Mountain High.
The Pee Wee Sherman Rail Jam is for boys and girls 18 and under and prizes include product from Josh's sponsors Omatic, Drop, Smith, Elm, and Active.

Skiers and riders have enjoyed consecutive powder days all this week as a heavy storm bombarded Whistler Blackcomb with the best snowfall of the season in what has been described as the resort’s very own stimulus package. The mountains have been blanketed with 82 centimetres (32 inches) of snow in four days – a season record.

North Creek, NY, Feb. 25, 2009 - At 10:30am on March 4, 1934
At 10:30am on March 4, 1934, the first train transporting Gore Mountain skiers arrived at the North Creek station. This date marks the establishment of North Creek as a winter recreation destination, and Gore Mountain became home to one of the first commercial ski areas and ski patrols in the United States. The first train was organized by Vincent Schaefer of the Schenectady Witnersports Club.
