New Zealand, May 19, 2009 - More fresh snow on Queenstown's premier ski areas
More fresh snow on Queenstown’s premier ski areas of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak on New Zealand’s South Island is delivering spectacular pre-season conditions, comparable with usual conditions in peak season.
Coronet Peak ski area, scheduled to open in less than three weeks (Saturday 6 June), has received 50 - 100cm of snow in the last four days resulting in an 80cm base at the top of the mountain and a 50cm base at the bottom.

Cairngorm Mountain, Scotland, May 18, 2009 - The Big Spring Clean returns for its second year
The Big Spring Clean, a clean up initiative organised by the Ski Club of Great Britain, returns for its second year at Cairngorm Mountain and Nevis Range on Sunday 31st May 2009.
The event which attracted over 100 participants in 2008 is a chance for mountain users to do their bit by picking up litter left by a season’s worth of visitors. The event raises awareness about responsible tourism and the seriousness of dropping litter.
Flaine, France, May 18, 2009 - Two new fixed grip quad chairlifts are due to begin service in Flaine
Two new fixed grip quad chairlifts are due to begin service in Flaine this December, in accordance with to its five year improvement plan, and the resort’s famous bucket lift which links two of its sectors, is due to be renovated.
The new fixed grip La Foret quad will be a six minute ride accessing the seater chairlift accessing the beginners’ zone.

Skiers and riders can look forward to hitting Mt Hutt’s slopes later this month as ski area staff work to open two weeks ahead of schedule for the first time in at least 10 years.
Mt Hutt has received more than 170cm of snow over the past 12 days resulting in a 110cm snow base and a decision to work towards a Queen’s Birthday weekend opening on Saturday 30 May (conditions permitting).

Whistler Mountain will re-open May 19 for late spring skiing and riding, following Blackcomb’s last day on Monday, May 18. Recent snowfall, cooler temperatures, and a current snow base of 193cm have created the conditions for Whistler Blackcomb to continue to offer skiing and riding on Whistler Mountain.
“Currently the snow pack and coverage is good,” says Bob Dufour, Whistler Blackcomb vice president of mountain operations.

Continuous snowfalls on New Zealand’s premier mountain resorts of Mt Hutt in Canterbury and Coronet Peak and the Remarkables in Queenstown, has blanketed the mountains in snow with forecasts predicting a lot more on the way.
The crew at Mt Hutt has been unable to get up the mountain after 80cm of snow has fallen to 800m, burying the top half of the access road, with staff reported to be working around the clock to clear roads before the next set of snow storms
