Kids and adults alike were wowed by some of the world’s top ski champions yesterday (August 16) as the skiers signed posters and posed for photographs at a poster signing event at Coronet Peak.

Members of the USA Men’s and Women’s ski teams and the Canadian Women’s ski teams were overwhelmed by supporters as they spent an hour meeting and greeting their fans in the sunshine at Coronet Peak.

While the rest of Central Otago was under a heavy cloud cover, Cardrona Alpine Resort enjoyed bluebird skies on the third day of the seventh annual Burton New Zealand Open. Cardrona’s 22’ halfpipe was the hub of today’s action, as over 100 riders had to perform to secure their spot in the halfpipe semifinals.

Former Olympian Kate Rattray (Christchurch) successfully defended her title at the New Zealand Skiing Masters at Coronet Peak (August 7-8) to take the combined trophy for downhill, giant slalom and slalom.

Forty-six-year-old Rattray proved unbeatable once again clearly winning all three events which are decided on age handicap.
