Early snowfalls across the Canadian Rockies of Alberta has boosted spirit and energy in Banff-Lake Louise and Jasper, as the resorts prepare to be the first to open in Canada for the up-coming Winter Olympic season.

Mt. Norquay in Banff National Park is planning to kick off the season on October 31 with a Halloween party. The early opening will be for weekends only, with midweek opening scheduled for December 5.

One Hit Wonder event kicks off Monday 14th in Thredbo. Some of the countries hottest riders launch large over the week of the specially built 85 foot jump, behind the top of the Cruiser Chairlift.  Famous skier and filmer Tim Myers will shoot the action and put it up on the One Hit Wonder website, then it is up to you to vote on who you think is number one.

Perfect Spring weather and fresh snow on the ground greeted competitors at the first annual Black Diamond Big Mountain, held at Temple Basin Ski Area in Association with CHILL over the past weekend.

The extreme ski and snow-board event, the final of CHILL’s Big Mountain competitions held in the Craigieburn Range and Arthur’s Pass, Canterbury, was a long anticipated return of Big Mountain ski competition to the ‘inbound back-country’ ski area.
