Falls Creek ski resort in Australia has announced a host of new facilities and initiative’s for the leading Australian resort’s upcoming 2010 season.

The province of Victoria's largest alpine resort has expanded its night skiing to include Wombats Ramble. Night lights (using green power) have been installed along the 2.2km run.

A new ski centre is being built in Turkey in readiness for the 2011 Universiade Winter Games which will be staged there next February in the ancient city of Erzurum.

The new resort will stage Super-G, Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super Combined Alpine ski races.

The new ski area, Konakli, will be the second for the city along with the established resort of Palandoken which will host snowboarding events.

A new gondola has opened linking a half-billion-dollar real-estate development with Steamboat Springs ski resort in Colorado.

The $3 million (US) gondola, with six-seater passenger cabins, began operating along a 650m (2,000-foot) long route that links Trailhead Lodge at the new 47-acre private Wildhorse Meadows Resort with the base of Steamboat Ski Area.

Wildhorse Meadows has completed the first phase of a five- to seven-year construction program.
