Austria’s largest ski area, the SkiWelt, has announced a host of upgrades for next winter 2011-12.
The Moon Toboggan course will be floodlit from 7pm to 3am and run for 3.5km (over two miles) down the Stockalm from the top of the Hochsoll gondola.
The run will also have snowmaking cover and toboggans can be rented at the base station.
Other news from the region includes more snow making and a new beginner’s lift at Going.

The 2011 ski season has begun in the southern hemisphere, with a 600m long slope at Afri-Ski in Lesotho the first to open, on Thursday, June 9th. Skiers and boarders who weren’t already resident at the ski area had difficulty reaching it though as access roads were closed by drifting snow.

The ski area was scheduled to open this Saturday (June 11) but unusually mild temperatures means it has been unable to make snow for more than a week.
