Turoa in New Zealand, which has seen record snowfall this southern hemisphere winter, has announced it will extend the 2008 ski season by three weeks and will now stay open until 16th November.

Mike Smith, marketing manager for the company that owns Turoa and its neighbour Whakapapa on Mt Ruapehu, says the extension is due to fantastic snow falls and weather conditions.

“Snow fell almost continuously from mid July to late August.

And once again Parklife team member Nick Hyne of Queenstown claimed top spot and the $500 prize for first open male in the snowboard section.  He was followed by Takahiro Ishida who picked up $300 for his efforts while Mark Anderson in third place was awarded $250.
