NZ Ski, July 23, 2008 - Snow fun continues in New Zealand with Mt Hutt Ski Resort
Snow fun continues in New Zealand with Mt Hutt Ski Resort experiencing a bumper season, receiving up to 80cm of new snowfalls, while in Queenstown the cover remains thick and fast, ready for The Remarkables to open its snow tubing park.
At Mt Hutt, snow has also settled all the way down to the bottom of the access road which is blocked due to the conditions. The crew are on standby to access the mountain as soon as conditions allow. More snow is expected overnight to top up the new 80cm falls. The ski area is expecting fantastic skiing and riding conditions when the weather clears.
In Queenstown, The Ozone Tubing Park at The Remarkables has opened for the season offering pure fun for the young and the young at heart.
Bathed in sunshine all day, the dedicated snow tubing park is nestled in the sunny bowls of The Remarkables. Serviced by its own tow lift, riders slide down the specially groomed tracks on specifically designed inner-tubes.
Ski Area Manager, Ross Lawrence said the Park offered a great option for non skiers, skiers or boarders with tired legs, kids, or those just wanting to have a bit of fun in the snow with their family and friends.
“Everyone can have a go and it’s a fantastic way for youngsters to get familiar and confident in the snow while having lots of laughs along the way,” he said.
The Ozone Tubing Park is open daily from 10.00am to 3.00pm (conditions dependant) see www.nzski.com for details.
