While not the obvious destination for a week's holiday in the snow, Manitoba does have a handful of ski resorts, two of which are literally ten minutes from downtown Winnipeg - one of Canada's most happening cities.
There's little to match the vertical descent of resorts in BC or Alberta (you're talking about 150 metres here at best) but both Holiday Mountain and Mystery Mountain do at least have all the facilities you'd expect of a reasonable resort. There's extensive snowmaking, tuition, bars and accommodation - as well a terrain park and cross country skiing.
