Lazio is on the shin of the Italian boot about half way down on the west coast. Home to the nation's capital Rome, the region isn't naturally synonymous with skiing or snowboarding. You're much more likely to hear "Lazio" ringing out from the terraces than the hills surrounding the city. That said it's still possible to get above the snow line here.
Most resorts in Lazio are small and downhill is limited. Terminillo's the most popular resort in the region, particularly for cross-country skiing (with around 25 kms of trails - half what's on offer in total). At such a low altitude (405 metres), most of the action takes place between about 1,600 and 2,000 metres. Snowboarders flock here for the terrain park.
