When the highest point anywhere is labelled a 'hill', you know not to expect too much in the way of extreme skiing or snowboarding - unless you're somewhere near the Arctic Circle of course. But while Hoosier Hill (at 383 metres or 1,257 feet) may not bring on a sudden case of vertigo, it lends just enough height round here to make it possible to flex your planks in Indiana.
There are three ski resorts in Indiana: Paoli Peaks, Perfect North Slopes and Pines Peak. Of these, Perfect North has the most terrain (22 runs), with short double diamonds for more confident skiers and riders, as well as a snow tubing area for those who prefer to take the hill lying down. Pines Peaks, 80 kms from Chicago in Illinois, is popular with beginners and operates under the moto: "Learn here, ski or snowboard anywhere".
