Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the most north eastern point of Italy bordering Veneto to the west, the countries of Austria and Solvenia to the north and east and the Adriatic Sea to the south. The overall altitude of resorts in this area is pretty low (Tarvisio's lower slopes are at 750 metres) which means snow-making is, at times, inevitable. However it's possible to get up high in places and this - in good conditions at least - guarantees you a long ride home.

The resorts here are small and on-piste is limited. The area has plenty of cross-country however and there are two modern terrain parks at Zoncolan and Piancavallo (complete with half pipes and ski/boarder cross tracks).
