Employees First To Take Flight On Grouse Mountain Ziplines (26-Jun-08)
June 26th 2008. North Vancouver, BC.- With a public launch of Air Grouse Mountain Ziplines quickly approaching
With a public launch of Air Grouse Mountain Ziplines quickly approaching this Saturday, eager Grouse Mountain employees will participate in the attraction’s maiden voyage tomorrow.
Before the general public gets a chance to usher in the city’s newest adventure and only zipline course in Metro Vancouver, local media and Grouse Mountain staff are invited to test their mettle high above the trees.
The zipline attraction is the latest adventure to be added to Grouse Mountain’s roster of guest activities and represents a $1.5M infrastructure investment for the resort. Since taking the resort private in 1989, the McLaughlin family has invested over $30M in the mountain, making it the city’s top four-season attraction, now drawing over 60% of its traffic in the non-winter months.
Other “firsts” celebrated by Grouse Mountain include: North America’s first double chairlift (1945); North America’s largest aerial tram system (1966); Vancouver’s first high definition cinema (1991); Vancouver’s first high speed detachable quad chairlift (1997); the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife (2002); and Vancouver’s first 24-hour downhill operation (2007).
