Construction work is getting underway on a replacement for Austria’s highest ski lift, the Pitz

Construction of the new Wildspitzbahn gondola will begin this summer 2011 but the new lift will take around 18 months to complete and is scheduled to open for winter 2012-13.

“Not only are the new lift’s architecture and technology outstanding, but it will also access a
unique view from the ‘levitating terrace‘ of the 3.440m high bistro on to Tyrol’s highest peak – the Wildspitze with 3.774 m – and onto the surrounded mountain world.” said a statement from the ski centre.
