Twenty Years Of Bumps At Mt Buller And Still Going Strong! (31-Aug-08)
Mt Buller, VIC, August 31, 2008 - For the 20th consecutive year Mt Buller played host to the hottest mogul event
For the 20th consecutive year Mt Buller played host to the hottest mogul event on the Freestyle Skiing calendar – The Heineken ABOM Mogul Challenge!
Competitors from a local and international field battled it out over the world-class moguls and jumps course located on the Summit.
Sam Hall, team member of the New South Wales Institute of Sport was the title champion of the Open Men’s Division this year, with Nicole Lewis, Team Buller Rider and Mt Buller local taking out the title for the Women’s Open Division.
“I’ve entered this competition for the last 14 years, and I’ve been building the course for the last four years,” said Lewis. “It really is a fantastic event on an awesome course. And winning this trophy is the most amazing feeling – it’s what I’ve wanted my whole life!”
The FIS credited event drew over 80 competitors, including 2006 Winter Olympian Nick Fisher, who came second in the Men’s Open Division, and recent champion from the Nationals Series Emma Chapman-Davies, who was injured during pre-event training.
The Heineken ABOM Mogul Challenge has consistently attracted some of the world’s greatest mogul athletes in its 20-year history.
Five-time ABOM Mogul Challenge winner Nick Cleaver was also in attendance at the event to present prizes and trophies for winners of the 2008 competition.
