Top Snowboarding Duos Battle For $15,000 In All New Event (30-Jul-09)

Mt Buller, Australia, July 30, 2009 - A huge new snowboarding event bursts onto the Australian winter scene

A huge new snowboarding event bursts onto the Australia winter scene this weekend with the first ever Mountain Dew Battle for Supremacy Dew Hut Jam at Mt Buller this Saturday night.

This brand new competition features 10 pairs of pro riders showcasing their most creative and breathtaking combination moves and stunts in an intense one hour freestyle jib event down a purpose built course including a huge ‘hut’.

The signature Dew Hut standing 2.5 metres high is the largest structure ever built for snowboarding competition in Australia. Built in pieces and shipped to Mt Buller, the construction of the hut and the course has created a big buzz on Mt Buller’s Bourke Street as the course has taken shape.

The riders are excited about testing their skills on such a big feature and competing for the huge winner’s purse of $12,000 and $3,000 for best trick.

Event designer Russell Holt is delighted with the preparations, “The Dew hut is a seriously daunting feature and will be bigger than anything most of these riders have competed on before. But I know they are going to take this to town and it’s going to be amazing to see what the riders pull out on Saturday night as they hit the hut.”

Paul Hyde, Marketing Manager for PepsiCo explains the concept, “We wanted to  team up with our event partner Mt Buller to produce a completely new snowboarding event for Australia and reward the new guard driving this great sport at the grassroots – and we came up with the Dew Hut Jam.”

The event will take place under lights on Mt Buller’s Bourke Street from 6pm on Saturday night.
