Top Ski Racers Train At Panorama (22-Nov-10)

Panorama opens as Alpine Canada Alpin National Training Centre

PANORAMA, B.C. – November 22, 2010 – Panorama Mountain Village opens for top ski and snowboard racers to train in preparation for the upcoming race season.

Over the coming weeks Panorama will host a multitude of racers from around the world who will have exclusive use of the mountain.  These racers will be training in a variety of disciplines including slalom, giant slalom and super g.  Among the teams represented at Panorama will be Canada, USA, Russia, Japan, Czech, Slovenia, England and Croatia.

Panorama Mountain Village has been providing early season November Racing since 1992 and for the past seven years it has been officially recognized as an Alpine Canada Alpin National Training Centre. The resort has a long standing history of racing, having hosted many Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) races and eleven World Cup races. “We are committed to being the best in business for North American training” remarks Bruce Hamstead, Race Training & On Mountain Events Manager.

The mountain itself, consistent early season snow conditions, and infrastructure provide a hassle free training environment for its visiting athletes.  The racers can focus purely on training while at Panorama because of the resorts coordination of efforts and physical layout.  Teams can book an inclusive package that consists of accommodation, lift passes, food and access to various off-slope amenities that team’s desire. Amenities include fitness rooms, cardio areas, ski tuning rooms and hot pools that help rejuvenate tired muscles for the next days training session. Another edge that Panorama has is that it is truly ski in / ski out which greatly benefits the racers. Athletes do not have to load and unload the team van each day and then travel distances to and from the mountain. Teams are also guaranteed ski run space giving them much desired on-snow training, allowing them to make the most of each day leading up to their next race.

Coming off an Olympic year and feeling some affect of an afterglow from Vancouver, the resort is honoured to host all the teams who choose Panorama to help them prepare for the 2010/2011 race season.

The mountain opens to the general public for skiing on December 10th.
