Thousands Take Part In On-Line Auction (16-Feb-09)
NZSki Ltd, Feb 16, 2009 - Nearly 7,000 people took part
Nearly 7,000 people took part in or viewed the week-long Trade Me auctions for NZSki season passes valid for Coronet Peak and The Remarkables or Mt Hutt. The auction preceded the company’s February 12 release of its 2009 prices and Early Bird range of passes.
Almost all 20 passes on offer attracted higher than 2009 retail bids however NZSki has ensured all winning bidders pay a maximum price of $20 below the Early Bird retail rate.
NZSki Ltd General Manager - Sales and Marketing David Ovendale said the company was astounded at the interest in the auctions and had always intended the successful bidders would buy passes at lower than retail rates.
“We listed the passes with a 1c reserve and were amazed at the pace of bidding that followed over the week. We believe people placed their bids on the assumption that prices would rise this year which isn’t the case,” he said. “We’ve now made sure all successful bidders have ended up with the good deal they were hoping for.”
The Trade Me auctions offered 10 Queenstown Passes (including Coronet Peak and The Remarkables) and 10 Mt Hutt Passes for auction. The auction opened on Thursday 5 February and closed on Thursday 12 February.
The Early Bird sale continues until midnight on Thursday March 12 with the best possible prices and an Early Bird time payment option available on line at www.nzski.com. From 13 March the prices will increase.
