Skier jumping

“Today’s athletes had a great time and the judges worked through half our registered athletes. There were 86 skiers in total in the 7-11 and 12-14 age categories. The caliber of skiing was exceptional. Tomorrow calls for mainly sunny skies and with the 15-18 years old competitors going for it tomorrow, there should be a lot of energy.” noted Mika Hakkola, RED Mountain Resort’s Marketing and Communications Manager.

Friday will see the 15-18 year old athletes qualifying for the finals in The North Face Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships. Competition starts at 8:30am on Links Line on Friday, January 13th followed by the athlete meeting at 5:30pm in the daylodge.

The North Face Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships will see all age category finalists on Saturday, January 14th. Following the finals there will be an athlete banquet and awards ceremony to crown our junior freeskiing champions.

The senior portion of The North Face Canadian Open Freeskiing Championships will start on January 18th and with a lot of snow anticipated for the event next week, the caliber of skiing will only increase.
