Tellurides Mountainfilm Festival On Tour (26-Mar-09)

WHISTLER, BC, March 26, 2008 - Telluride's Mountainfilm Festival returns to Whistler

Telluride's Mountainfilm Festival returns to Whistler on Wednesday, April 8. The festival includes exhilarating and provocative films from around the world, blending cultural and adventure films.

The program features short films and longer pieces, which were also a part of Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, Colorado. The films feature adventure sports from all over the globe; glimpses of other cultures; and portraits of remarkable people. A Mountainfilm presenter brings the films to life by providing context and weaving a narrative thread throughout the show.

Mountainfilm is about cultures and the landscapes they occupy. It is about a world where adventure is alive, history is important and people are passionate about what they believe. Environmental integrity and a rich spirit of celebration are pillars of this festival.

This year’s Mountainfilm event is sponsored by the Raynier Foundation, in support of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund. This environmental fund is supported by donations from Whistler Blackcomb employees that are matched by the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.

“The Fund supports local environmental projects that are chosen by staff members,” says Julie Burrows, chairperson for the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund (WBFEF). “We have collected over $220,000 and completed 46 local projects to date.”

To thank members and local supporters, the WBFEF will be hosting a reception before the event, with organically inspired appetizers provided by Ciao-Thyme Bistro.

The reception will take place at Millennium Place from 6-7 pm with the show starting at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and are available at Millennium Place or through Ticketmaster at

All proceeds from this event go to the WBFEF.
