An Idaho ski resort that was one of the rising stars of the past few years but then fell victim to the global banking collapse will be open for skiing again this week.

Tamarack in Idaho was conceived and built in the past decade, initially promising a spectacular property driven development with celebrity endorsements including a planned luxury Fairmont Hotel supported by Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

However the resort was bankrupted by the collapse of banks supporting it two years ago and did not open last winter.

This season’s limited re-opening is reported to be due to the tenacity of former staff and smaller property owners who lost money and jobs in the ski area’s financial collapse and have fought a two year legal campaign for the right to re-open it.
