Swiss Skiing Fights Back! (13-Sep-11)

With the Swiss franc running at record highs against other currencies....

With the Swiss franc running at record highs against other currencies, Swiss ski resorts are in many cases anticipating a difficult season. However resorts are taking steps to make costs less eye- watering for non Swiss nationals, and Verbier is one of the first to announce its strategy.

“In order to counter the effect of the strong franc, our visitors will enjoy a ski-lodging package with an up to 20% better exchange rate than the official daily rate. Details and offers will be available on our site through the reservation section under the name Change Busters.” said a statement from the resort, which is planning a special winter communications campaign in the UK and France (in-flight magazines, advertising billboards, internet platforms).

The second pillar for this year is a brand new “Road Show” which will launch the winter season in London, Paris, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich, in order to create a “buzz” for the beginning of the season.

In addition to deals of up to 50% reductions on the skilift package for the first snow (from the
beginning of November to December 23), all sorts of prizes will be available to be won during these promotional events.
