Snowsports New Zealand Names 17 To The Junior World Championships Freestyle Team (12-Aug-10)

New Zealand, August 12, 2010 - Seventeen of New Zealand's most

Seventeen of New Zealand’s most talented young freestyle skiers have recently been selected to represent NZ at the 2010 Junior World Championships, which takes place in Wanaka from 21-31 August.

“We are thrilled to be the first to include the freestyle disciplines of Halfpipe and Slopestyle at the FIS Junior World Championship level,” said Snow Sports New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Ross Palmer.

“We are fielding a strong team which includes overall world champion freeskier, Jossi Wells and his brother, Byron Wells, who is also one of the top ranked freeskiers in the world.”

Joining Jossi and Byron on both the slopestyle and halfpipe teams is yet another Wells boy, Beau-James.  Teammates Hamish McDougall, Matt Soundy and Matt Johnson round out the slopestyle team.

New Zealand will field a twelve strong skier cross team, many of whom are crossing over from alpine ski racing.
