Snow Park NZ's Electric Hip Attack A Success (19-Jul-10)

Snow Park NZ, New Zealand, July 19, 2010 - Snowboarders and Freeskiers today

Snowboarders and Freeskiers today converged on Snow Park NZ for the annual Electric Hip Attack.

The ‘Jam’ style format allowed both skiers and snowboarders to display style and amplitude in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Canadian Dave Schmidt-Rodrugues was crowned number one male snowboarder of the day, while Snow Park’s own Abby Lockhart dominated the women’s snowboard division.  Mark Von Roy proved his worth becoming the men’s freeski champion for the second year in a row and Wanaka’s Tori Beattie secured top spot against the Female skiers. All winners walked away with an Electric Prize Pack and $500 cash each.

“The Hip attack was a really fun event and I’m stoked to win it again,” said Von Roy who is also a Snow Park NZ team rider. “I really like the jam format and being able to ski alongside the snowboarders. It inspires you to try something different.”

The juniors didn’t disappoint with new Snow Park NZ Team rider Seamus O’Connor taking out first place in the boys and Wanaka’s Zoi Synnott in the girls.

Electric team rider Will Jackways, of Wanaka, wowed the crowd taking out the snowboard biggest air, while German Adrian Gaiser took out the freeski biggest air.

Wanaka’s Byron Wells and Queenstown’s Mahi Mains boasted the best trick on the day in Freeski and Snowboarding divisions respectively.

The free-to-enter jam style competition was open to both freeskiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. Riders were judged on style, amplitude and consistency.
