Australia’s remarkable winter 2011 is continuing with more snowfalls in the past week at most
resorts.

Mt Hotham reports 31cm of fresh snow has fallen over the past seven days.

“With a base depth of 100cm and still more snow on the way this is shaping up to be a season to remember.” said a resort statement.

The skies cleared on Saturday, long enough to celebrate with the first fireworks for the season. It was worth the wait with bright colours illuminating the snow and sky over the Big D, a great intro for the Pea Brain Soup Big Air finals. The rest of this week is predicted to be dry, the wind should blow in around Friday, bringing with it more snow clouds and flakes over the weekend.

The resort’s Heli Link is up and running again so guests can take advantage of Hotham’s partnership with Falls Creek and ski or ride both resorts in the same day on the one lift ticket.

In just six minutes you can jump from one resort to the other (and back), and enjoy the glorious views on the way.
