Snow in Australia (15-May-11)

There have been some good pre-season snowfalls....

There have been some good pre-season snowfalls in Australia.

The country’s largest resort, Perisher's snowmaking guns were fired up for the first time this season overnight on May 11th.

However it was Mother Nature who stole the show with 15cm of fresh snow blanketing Perisher’s slopes so far and the resort says it continues to come down. It's continue to snow through to Friday and is predicted to stay cold next week but there’s no word yet on an early opening.

This winter the resort is offering a SuperSki Two Resorts on One Ticket pass with the ski lifts of Perisher and Thredbo included in the SuperSki 5 Day Lift Ticket, valid at both resorts over a six day period.

Mt Hotham has reported similar falls and conditions, totalling 30cm (a foot) by Friday 13th May.
