Snow Conditions Just Remarkable (13-Aug-09)

The Remarkables, New Zealand, August 13, 2009 - In what is being called the greatest day of skiing

In what is being called the greatest day of skiing at The Remarkables this season, the ski area has been blessed with 35cm of fresh powder in 24 hours followed by bluebird skies.

Skiers and snowboarders literally couldn’t decide where to head to first this morning as the perfect conditions spanned the entire mountain.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager, said there were huge smiles all round.

“It’s just premium Remarks up here today - people are riding fresh powder and relaxing in the sunshine on our deck,” he said.

“There is nothing like climbing up out of the cloud on the road and into blue skies to have wall to wall freshies greet you, and that’s what all our guests experienced today.”

“There is such a buzz up here at The Remarkables and with the Winter Games and spring skiing coming to the ski area in the next few weeks, this is the snow we needed to make sure conditions stay in great shape.”

Coronet Peak received 16cm snow in the past 24 hours, with skiers and snowboarders descending on the mountain to find some fresh tracks. The snow has been excellent over the entire mountain however visitors were raving in particular about conditions on Greengates and the Exchange Bowls.
