Skiing Queenstown Gets More Affordable With Pacific Blue Announcing Direct Flights ex Sydney (17-Jun-09)

Queenstown, New Zealand, June 17, 2009 - Low cost airline Pacific Blue has announced

Low cost airline Pacific Blue has announced that they will be flying directly from Sydney to Queenstown from 5 September, operational on Tuesday's and Saturday's, making access to Queenstown’s premier mountains Coronet Peak and The Remarkables all the more affordable.

With the new flights commencing early September there will still be plenty of snow on the slopes for skiers and boarders keen to head up to the mountains before the resorts close in October, and for 2010 the service will become a year round option.

Launch fares on the internet are $259 one way, while regular lead-in fares will start from $299 one way. Flights are scheduled to depart Sydney at 10:30am arriving into Queenstown at 3:35pm, and for the return departures are 4:30pm arriving back in Sydney at 5:55pm. The mid morning departure times ex Sydney also allow for residents outside NSW to look into same day connecting flights.

Coronet Peak is already open for the season in Queenstown and this Saturday 20 June, sister resort The Remarkables will open with all lifts and terrain parks accessible. The ski area has a solid snow base of 75cm.

To coincide with the launch of Pacific Blue’s direct flights into Queenstown, Ski Max has released a package to ski Coronet Peak and The Remarkables from $1149 per person twin share, including direct flights on Pacific Blue from Sydney to Queenstown, Australian departure taxes, seven days economy car rental, seven nights twin share accommodation at Kingsgate Terraces Hotel, and a three day lift pass valid at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables in Queenstown.

The package is valid for travel from 5 September to 15 October, subject to availability at time of booking. Call Ski Max for details on 1300 136 997.
