Scotland’s CairnGorm Mountain above Aviemore opened for snow sports at the weekend – only a few months since it closed at the end of its record-breaking eight month long 2009-10 season.
Skiing was limited, suitable for intermediate and expert skiers only with skiing uplift from the train only, with mid station stops. A route was prepared as much as early snow conditions allowed down the Traverse, 105 and back to the train mid station stop. White Lady and M1 were both skiable with care but neither had been prepared or marked.
