Remarks Gears Up For Slopestyle Series (20-Jul-09)

Remarkables, Queenstown, New Zealand. More snow is predicted this week in time for the first session

More snow is predicted this week in time for the first session of the Tararua Real Iced Coffee (TRIC) Slopestyle Series at The Remarkables in Queenstown on Sunday (July 26).

In its eleventh year, the series will take place in the Dirty Dog Terrain Park at The Remarkables ski area, with the following three events taking place on August 15, September 5 and September 19.

Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager, said the event created a great atmosphere on the mountain for competitors and spectators alike.

“The Slopestyle Series is an excellent event as the series format enables skiers and riders to recognise their own development throughout the season,” he said. “Competitors come from all over the region to compete.”

“It gives all levels of skier and rider the chance to test themselves in the big park and individual cash prizes will be awarded at each event for first, second and third placed competitors within each category.”

“The Slopestyle Series gives the younger guys a chance to better themselves and see where they stack up, along with support from the Parklife team who are also involved in the events.”

Live music and an MC will also be on hand at the sessions to create a buzzing atmosphere for all competitors and spectators.

The entry fee of $25 will be pooled for cash prizes each session, with an overall prize handed out after the final session on September 19. There are separate classes for Open Men and Women, and Junior Men and Women in both ski and snowboard, and spot prizes will also be handed out throughout the series.

Registration begins each day from 8.30am to 10am at Guest Services, with competitions starting at 10.30am. Entry fee $25 with $20 bib deposit. Helmets are mandatory for all competitors.
