Perisher Snow Alert!! (01-Jul-09)

Perisher, Australia, July 1, 2009 - The snow deliveryman hit his straps

The snow deliveryman hit his straps today dropping off 25cm of light dry snow across the resort; bringing the accumulated total to 33cm since yesterday. The resort is looking simply magical with snow-drifts of over a metre around the village and on the upper elevations.

Overnight temperatures lowered to -2 degrees Celsius, with the wind chill factor dropping the temperature felt to -11 degrees Celsius, allowing snowmaking to continue and the fresh snow to remain in excellent condition.

Weather forecasters have predicted that the deep low centred over the Southern Ocean will remain strong. The result: kaboom! We should see blizzard conditions continue about the peaks with snowfalls lowering to 1000m overnight and into tomorrow, which is a good sign for the weekend.
