New Junior Slopestyle Event In The Heart Of Mt Buller Village (26-Jun-11)

The ‘Junior Urban Pro’ is an action-packed freestyle event for 16 year old and younger skiers and snowboarders right in the heart of Mt Buller on Saturday 2nd July. 

A custom designed and built course will transform the Athlete’s Walk pedestrian zone between the ABOM Hotel and the Mt Buller Chalet for this one-night-only competition between Australia’s most promising young freestyle athletes.

Forty young skiers and snowboarders including some of the best riders in Australia and Mt Buller’s top free skiers in this age group will showcase their

skills in a number of jam sessions in a series of features nestled between the hotels and the Bourke Street ski run.

The pool of contenders will be judged by Mt Buller training programs TBR and TSC coaches and narrowed to a final five to compete in a final series of runs

to determine the ultimate winners. The Junior Urban Pro will commence at 5pm and continue under lights until 7pm.

“We are really excited about creating a new event that brings slopestyle right into the village where families and guests can be part of the action. 

The kids will be competing and profiling their talents in front of friends, families and a Saturday afternoon crowd,” said event creator Tony Harrington.

Buller Ski Lifts General Manager Laurie Blampied welcomed the new event, “Mt Buller has always fostered progression and events for young people in

snowsports. The Junior Urban Pro will provide a fantastic competition for the young riders and skiers involved and have the added element of providing a terrific spectacle in the Village for a Saturday evening. ”

The first Junior Urban Pro will feature an invitation-only pool of talented skiers and snowboarders drawn from across NSW and Victoria.
